This paper 'Vitamin D and the Promotion of Long-Term Metabolic Health from a Programming Perspective' was published in November 2015 in Nutrition and Metabolic Insights, Volume 8, Issue S1, p11-21. The paper includes some authors who are members of the DynaHEALTH consortium: Sylvain Sebert and Marjo-Riitta Järvelin.

This review addresses current evidence available for assessing the potential programming of long-term metabolic health of offspring by maternal vitamin D status in pregnancy. It summarises knowledge on the early origins of metabolic health and analyses evidence for an association between the vitamin D status in pregnancy and maternal and fetal health status. In addition, it analyses the link between the regulation of flammation and the vitamin D status in the general population to inform on the general mechanisms through which early vitamin D might affect the programming of long-term health.
